DNA

DNA is like the control center for you body. It sends out messages by using ribosomes. It also determines what you look like.

Greek Philospohers

Aristotle was the man who made the theory that life can be made with out any life to begin with. Some people still believe that way today. Galen was a doctor who first used clean rags and alcohol to clean out wounds. The king hired him to be his personal doctor.

Mole Facts

-Moles are very strong for their size.

-God has given them the ability to dig with their noses.

-A mole is so strong, it can exert a lateral digging force of up to 32 times it's weight.

-A mole uses between 400 and 4,000 times as much energy to dig a yard long tunnel than it takes to
walk that distance.

-An average mole eats between 45 and 50 pounds of worms and insects each year.

Sonar

Sonar is the way that some animals figure out how close and how big things are. It also tells which direction they're going. The animal sends out a sound and the sound bounces off of something and goes back to the animal that sent it. People have learned how to make machines that can copy sonar.

How Coral Reefs are Made

Coral reefs are made of tiny, dead, soft little sea creatures called coral polyps. The polyps remove calcium from the ocean water and with that, they make a hard 'shell' called corallite, or calcium carbonate. When the polyps die, the corallite stays behind, like a skeleton. It takes millions of dead polyps to make just one piece of coral. There are many kinds of coral, such as sea fan, brain coral, and sea whip. All the different kinds of coral are formed by different polyps.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great barrier Reef is a large chain of coral reefs and small islands off the northeastern coast of Australia, about 150 miles away from the coast. It's about 1,250 miles long, covering about 80,000 square miles. Many plants and animals, such as sea cucumbers, oysters, and starfish, live in the reef. There are also many fishm such as down fish and sharks, as well as mammals, such as dolphins ans whales.

The coral comes in many shapes and sizes. It could be spiky, smooth, wiggly, or sharp, yellow, orange, blue, green, red, indigo, and pink. Different corals form by different dead organisms building up.

Cell Support

Cells have to have support like tents or they would be like a popped balloon. There are three parts of the support system, micro-tubules, actin filaments, and intermediate filaments. The micro-tubules and actin filaments act like poles to hold it while the intermediate filament tightens them.

Cell Membranes

Cell membranes are made of lipids. One of them is called heads, which are attracted to water. The other one is called  tails which doesn't like water. When the cells are in the water or other fluids the heads are on the inside, but when they are in the are the tails are on the outside.

Atoms and Cells

All things are made from atoms and cells. You cannot see cells with a naked eye because they are so tiny. The only way you can see a cell is with a microscope.
